Well this is a title worth tackling as for people like myself who are over 50 started hiking with just a pair of trainers, waterproof coat and an old rucksack to carry anything in that you needed. And the only way of finding our way was an old map and the trail signposts if there are any. Great times because when hiking over long distances it really made you think & if you got in trouble then you have to either help save yourself or rely on the dedicated teams of rescuers who are based around these beautiful areas.
But now things have developed so much with special hiking boots like the Berghaus Hill master ll specially developed for hiking any type of trails. These boots as well as many others make it so much easier on your legs & feet. And then there is the Mountop water filter bottle a great invention for longer treks because when you finish the water you have taken all you need to do is fill at a local stream and with its fantastic filtration system you have fresh water again. The Mountop water filter bottle is something i have used a number of times and fully recomend it. Something everyone should be carrying on longer hikes just for the safety aspect. Moving on to communication how many of us need to remain in contact all the time now (I don’t personally but I know many around me who do) & feel that the greatest problem they face is when the mobile runs out of power. Well now this is solved by adding something like the AXNEB power bank with enough power in charge to boost your mobile time and time again. A must for those who need that constant communication.
Though there are many more aspects of how hiking has changed with technology I feel that the only other I need to add to this post is the biodegradable wet wipes. Something like the Ace Travel Buddy wet wipes are such a great idea because no longer do you need to carry toilet paper or use a dock leaf (which I have done many times in the past) but you can safely dispose of your waste in a hole knowing that over the course of time it will rot away returning the goodness to the earth.
